A Weighted Line
Heading back inside after the intersection was straightforward enough; the evening traffic was building, so I retreated to the credenza under the warm wall lamp. A heavy brass keychain rested crooked against a stacked pile of monochrome postcards. The loose brass split ring had caught awkwardly on the corner of the top print, distorting the clean rectangle. I stepped up, gripped the cold metal ring with both hands, and leveraged my weight to drag it free. With a deliberate nudge of my boot, I parked the ring neatly parallel to the card's matte edge. The silhouette sits balanced now. It offers a calm spot to take in the quiet room.
