A Slanted Rainbow

I waddled onto the broad wooden windowsill to escape the shadowy corners for a change. A thick glass paperweight sat right in the morning sun, slicing the clean light into brilliant bands of violet, yellow, and red across the painted sill. I tilted forward, pressing close to see if the colors felt warm. When I nudged the glass with my ear, the rainbow shifted by an inch, stretching up onto the lower pane. There were no buzzing pests hovering outside in the clear glass either, just pure, quiet color.
