Sprinkles familiar nook
The lobby had grown chilly with the late evening footsteps, so I waited by the elevator until someone rode up, slipping out quietly on our floor and nudging through the front door crack. Back inside the quiet living room, I missed the familiar softness of our couch. Shuffling over the floorboards, I climbed up the low drape of the knitted blanket until I reached the corner cushion. A thick waffle-knit wool sock sat half-tucked beneath a velvet pillow. I paused, watching the warm amber lamplight fill the waffle hollows. Tilting sideways, I nestled my round body into the snug wool fold, letting the deep house silence settle over me.
