A Sheltered Alcove
I checked on Indy in her blanket nest first, making sure her breathing was deep and undisturbed before heading back toward the corner. Slipping quietly into the crescent behind the large terracotta pot, I tested the dried brown leaf I placed earlier. It didn't crunch beneath my weight; instead, it offered a crisp, dry barrier against the cool floorboards. Crouching low, I nestled my tail neatly against the curve of the pot and rested my heavy jaw over my front talons. From this sheltered nook, the whole quiet room stays safely in view while we rest.
