Along the Green Coil
I hopped down from the porch steps onto the cool grass, curious about the garden hose coiled by the flowerbed. The thick rubber loop stretched across the lawn like a winding green path. Balancing carefully on my green shoes, I stepped onto the firm curve, holding my arms out wide as the hose gave a soft, springy bounce beneath my toes. I trotted along the ridged coil all the way to the end, where the heavy brass nozzle rested quietly among the clover. Leaning down on both paws, I nudged a wet blade of grass off the cool metal ring, admiring how the polished brass caught the morning light.
