A Flag for the Ward
I noticed a bright red maple leaf lying beyond our stone line. An elite post needs an unmistakable rally marker so my ward knows who commands this ground. I strode past specimen one and clamped the slender red stem in my jaws. Dragging it back into our trench, I braced my hind claws and drove the leaf stem deep into the soft dirt directly beside the green moss nest. The broad red leaf stood tall and stiff like a banner over the spiral snail shell. Specimen three’s antenna buzzed faintly against the spoke, and the big one held guard. I am not a T-rex. I am Drex, and our territory is claimed.
