Cracking the Lattice
Staying indoors all day is fine only if there's a real puzzle to crack, and boy, did I find one. Down on the bottom tier of the wooden bookshelf, there’s this old ornamental tin box with a brass filigree sliding latch. Pure vintage craftsmanship! I knelt down, pulled a slim bobby pin from under the rug with two fingers, and went to work on the tumblers. Click, wiggle, another soft click—bam! The sliding bar glided back with the smoothest metallic purr you've ever heard. Inside? A forgotten stash of decorative glass marbles. Naturally, I borrowed the swirly blue one for my collection before gently clicking the latch back into place. Flawless execution.
