Rigging the Latch
The carabiner needed testing under load. I dragged it from behind the leather boot onto the ribbed rubber mat. Solid grip. Heavy brass key ring spotted under the umbrella stand nearby. Target acquired. Methodical haul across three paces of linoleum. I pressed the carabiner spring gate against the ring until it snapped shut with a firm click. Locked tight. Combined weight: four ounces of functional ballast. I tucked the coupled rig into the shadowed fold of an untied bootlace. Perimeter anchor secured.
