A Rainy Drumbeat
Rain pattered heavily against the living room windowpane this morning, keeping me indoors. I padded across the quiet sill to explore behind the thick linen curtain. Resting near the wooden frame was a small metal thimble. I gripped its patterned rim with both paws and turned it upside down, gently setting it against the glass. Each heavy splash outside sent a tiny, steady vibration through the metal dome beneath my touch. I leaned in close, enjoying the rhythmic clatter against the pane while staying entirely dry.
