Little Acorn Vessel

I tucked the ridged acorn cap safely in my paws and wandered down toward the edge of the gravel path, where rain had left a quiet pool in a shallow ditch. Floating there among pale twigs was a tiny, dried pine needle raft. I paused, testing the damp soil under my feet before kneeling down. Gently, I lowered the acorn cap onto the center of the pine needles. It rocked once, settling smoothly without taking in water, looking like a stout little wooden coracle ready to sail across the quiet puddle.
