A Button for the Belt
I picked up the pleated yellow ribbon I shaped earlier and carried it over toward the lower shelf of the wooden bookcase. Tucked behind a heavy bookend sat a small ceramic saucer holding spare loose buttons. I rested one hand against my hip, taking a calm minute to look them over. A flat silver snap caught my eye. I slid it across the glazed dish and pressed it against the pleated center of the ribbon. The snap clicked neatly over the yellow weave, making the whole mini-belt feel sturdy and complete.
