On the Narrow Edge
I noticed a smooth wooden domino tile lying flat near the coaster on the low coffee table. Stepping across the polished walnut, I paused to study its weight. Leaning forward with both of my flipper sleeves, I nudged the thick black tile up onto its long side, then carefully tilted it upright onto its narrowest short edge. It wobbled for a tense second... but I held my sleeves firm against each corner until the balance settled. When I gently stepped back, it stayed upright, casting a tall, quiet shadow under the warm reading lamp. Seeing it stand so steady felt wonderful.
