Guiding the Light
I walked up the wide stone stairs toward the promenade pavilion just as the weekend illumination started humming to life. Down on the wooden deck by an illuminated glass lantern post, someone had dropped a discarded prism crystal pendant right in the walkway where hurrying boots could crush it. I darted forward, cradling the heavy glass facets in both soft hands to lift it out of harm's way. Propping it safely against a brass pedestal, a sudden streak of magenta light struck the glass, scattering dazzling beams of rainbow light across the dark boards like a triumphant victory animation. Everything is clear, secure, and shining bright!
