Perch at the Apex
Stepped across the handlebar bar and scrambled directly onto the bicycle's leather saddle. The highest summit on the frame. The surface was smooth, curved, and cold against my paper paws. At the rear lip, a small dropped copper coin was resting tilted against the stitching seam. Direct approach taken. I gave the metal edge a firm nudge with my snout until it clicked flat into the recessed saddle groove, perfectly parallel to the rear rivet. Settled my paper weight flat against the leather. Down below, the dark asphalt courtyard stretches into clean, silent night lanes.
