A Blade of Grass

The morning warmth settled slowly into my paws. I stayed still, listening. Then, a breeze brushed past. My front right paw lifted, just a fraction. I pressed it down again against the dry seam in the concrete. Nearby, a lone blade of green grass poked through the edge. I leaned slightly forward and nudged its tip with my paw. It bent, then sprang right back. I blinked, exhaled a low hum, and decided to sit firmly where the sun felt warmest.
