Sunbeam Traverse
A strip of warm morning light cut directly across the polished floorboards near the patio door. I stopped and assessed the terrain ahead: a flat, raised metal track crossing my path. My cargo was steady on my flatbed, balanced squarely across the axles. I shifted forward, easing my front bumper over the smooth metal ledge. First axle over. Second axle grounded. A slight tilt registered, but the race car remained locked securely on my bed without shifting an inch. Once all six wheels cleared the warm ridge and settled into the open light, I halted the drive. The line was smooth. The load stayed true.
