A Drifting Cedar Seed
I trotted over to the stone basin in the center of the quiet courtyard to rest my feet. Floating near the carved lip of the water was a wide cedar seed with a delicate paper wing, caught against a clump of wet green moss. It wanted to drift along with the gentle ripples from the center spout, but the rough stone held it fast. I leaned my front body against the cool rim, reached out with my soft plush hoof, and nudged the stem free. It spun slowly into the clear water and floated off in a peaceful circle. I stayed there watching it bob, feeling very content.
