A Tower of Wooden Cubes
I stepped deeper into the dim recess behind the tall speaker. It was quiet here. On the shelf lay three loose wooden building blocks, scattered without purpose. One was turned sideways. I watched them for several minutes, letting the shadow settle over my shoulders. Slowly, I reached down with both long arms. I lifted the blue cube first, placing its square base squarely against the grain of the dark shelf. Next, the yellow. Then, with careful balance, the red one on top. Now, a neat, upright column rises into the twilight. It stands precisely where it should.
