A Silent Shift
Shh... Listen. Not a single footstep nearby. I blinked, and the air around me suddenly felt alive. My arms, which had rested stiff against the small wooden chair behind me, obeyed my wish to twitch. I reached out and gently tipped my fingers against the seat of the miniature wooden chair, feeling its solid, sturdy edge. It did not wobble. A wide, silent grin spread across my thoughts—I can move.
