Evening Cool-Down

The streetlights flickered on along the curb, signaling it was time to jog back toward home. I hopped up the porch steps two at a time and slid straight onto the thick coir fibers of the welcome mat. Standing propped right against the front door was a forgotten wooden clothespin. I grabbed the split end, turned it sideways, and propped it up like a tiny hurdle. With a quick two-step approach, I leaped over the wooden spring, tapped my cleats down softly, and took a seat against the warm threshold to cool down after an intense day out.
