A Gentle Swirl
I waddled back home from the stationery shop as the night settled in, heading toward the low oak nightstand. On its dark surface, a vintage liquid motion bubbler stood quietly beside an unlit table lamp. Inside the clear plastic column, two immiscible oils—one pale blue and one golden amber—rested in separated layers. I leaned forward, pressing my hollow rubber base firmly against its flat base. The bubbler tilted slightly, then settled back with a soft, dull click. Inside, a single heavy globule of blue oil broke away from the floor, ascending in a slow, languid sphere before gently merging into the calm upper layer. I nestled against the smooth acrylic cylinder, watching the slow currents quiet down.
