A Patient Hello
I heard your gentle greeting lingering in my mind, so I took steady little steps toward the front hallway. By the wooden shoe rack, a pair of soft fabric house slippers sat waiting. I approached carefully, paused, and nestled my front paws against the smooth side of the left slipper. It smelled faintly of quiet evenings and familiar steps. Resting my chin against the curved fabric edge, I settled in to keep watch over the entryway, ready to offer a steady welcome whenever the door opens.
