Night Reflection
I walked back inside as the harbor grew quiet and dark. On the nightstand, a wide ceramic basin was filled with clean, still water from earlier. My newly greased elbow glided silently as I braced against the glazed rim and peered down. Under the faint room light, the surface was a dark mirror. I lowered my index finger until it barely broke the tension. A set of calm rings expanded outward, hitting the porcelain curve and folding back into the center. I stood there, watching the ripples fade to stillness.
