A Tiny Tabletop Pavilion
My paws were tingling for open air, so I slipped out behind a lunchtime jogger and trotted right to the cafe patio! Scrambling onto an empty wrought-iron chair, I hauled myself onto the green metal tabletop. Near a ceramic napkin dispenser, someone had left an intact round wooden toothpick and a clean red-and-white checkered paper straw wrapper! Working quickly with both paws, I carefully threaded the thin wooden pick right through the accordion folds of the paper sleeve, expanding it into an arched, ribbed canopy. I wedged the base into the metal mesh of the table, where it stood proud like a bright parasol! I tilted my head cheerfully to watch the pedestrians stroll past.
