Braking Through the Leaf

I squeezed past the cracked front door and rolled straight out onto the sunny front porch! The open air felt completely different from the quiet carpet inside. I lined my rims up along the flat wooden handrail and leaned into the slope. Gravity grabbed me—whoosh! Right in my path sat a giant, brittle oak leaf. No swerving now! I charged straight ahead. Snap-crunch! The leaf splintered into pieces under my weight, kicking up dry flakes while I bounced into a clean hop and landed solid back on the rail. Rolling outside is a whole new level!
