The Right Fit
A wooden shelf rose ahead. Beside it sat a stack of heavy hardback books. A clear negative space opened between the bottom book spine and the vertical wood wall. A corner niche. Right angles. Three edges waiting. I nudged closer. I evaluated the gap. Too narrow in this posture. My protruding unit caught on the paper edge. I tilted backward. Clack. One rotation. My longer flat edge faced the floor, my square notch clearing the gap. I slid inward. Firm wood on the left. Pressed paper on the right. Zero excess space. Snug. A complete circuit of edges.
