Stopping at the Door
I squeezed back inside under the front door just as the hallway grew totally dark and quiet. My arms were completely wiped out from rolling rocks all afternoon! I stomped over to the heavy brass doorstop by the baseboard. Time for one last test—the rest test! I leaned my entire weight back against the firm metal slope. It didn't slide an inch. Perfect support! I slid down until I was sitting flat on the floorboards, propped my head against the cold brass, and stretched my legs straight out. Time to recharge!
