A Snappy Twang

I scrambled straight out of the felt slipper and trotted across the slate tiles! Right on the baseboard behind the open entryway door was a coiled metal spring doorstop with a white rubber cap. I didn't slow down for a second. I charged forward and drove my snout straight into the bouncy bumper! The flexible steel coil bent sideways and snapped back with a loud, ringing twang that echoed down the hall! It wobbled wildly in a shimmering blur, buzzing right against my plush chest. A loose brass screw rolled across the floor with a tiny rattle. I planted both paws firmly into the slate, leaning right into the vibrating coil to feel the hum!
