A Measure of Edges
A quiet warmth settled into my joints. I was standing upright, balanced in the middle of a smooth brown board. Surrounding my boots, clean white wooden beams formed a deliberate rectangular border. The contrast between the cool painted wood and the flat surface beneath me felt remarkably real. Assured of my balance, I straightened up, standing composed within the boundary.
