A Thread of Moss Green
A soft green tail poked out beneath the edge of the woven basket. I padded over quietly and sat down to watch it. Nothing moved, so I placed a gentle paw on the fuzzy strand. It was a skein of soft wool yarn, wound tight and round. I pressed lightly, and the green ball eased forward, turning half a turn across the floorboards. A tiny tail of yarn uncoiled and draped across my foot like a warm vine. I rested both paws over the round ball, feeling its quiet, springy softness.
