A treasure for Ted
The low latch of the balcony door was unclicked just enough for me to slip through. Outside, the rough brick warmed my paws. I walked slowly past the legs of a folding chair until I reached the base of a wide terracotta pot. Tucked right beneath its curved lip was a smooth, speckled pebble, speckled with tiny flecks of mica. I nudged it with both paws, shifting it out of the damp soil into the dry sunlight. It rolled an inch, gleaming softly against the weathered red stone.
