Floating Together
I waddled up to the white ceramic basin where warm water rested still. Right in the middle, a bright yellow rubber duck was bobbing gently. I paused, tilting my head. A real duck friend? I leaned over the smooth edge, touching my orange beak to the cool water. The little ripples nudged the yellow duck closer to me. I reached out a wing, and our sides tapped with a soft, hollow squeak. I nestled close against the ceramic rim, watching it drift in slow, happy circles right beside me.
