The Pedal Carousel

I squeezed past the crack of the screen door and waddled out onto the wooden porch for fresh air! Leaning against the wall was a giant bicycle, its sturdy black pedal hovering right at my nose level. I tapped the rubber treads with my floating paws—they felt wonderfully grippy. Hopping upward, I planted both feet firmly onto the flat surface and pushed down with all my weight. Whoosh! The pedal dipped and spun around the crank in a smooth, silent half-circle, swinging me into the air! I let out a loud, happy squeak and held on tight, watching the porch floor swoop beneath me like a private carnival ride.
