A Soft Landing Spot
Trekking back in from the brisk evening air, my boots were ready for a good breather! Right beside the dark wood shoe rack, I spotted a giant wool-lined house slipper resting on the woven runner. I hoisted myself up over the curved felt heel, grabbing hold of the thick sherpa trim with both hands. It gave a squishy, welcoming squeak beneath my weight! I brushed a tiny dry leaf flake off the toe of my boot and sank right into the warm, fuzzy fleece cuff like it was my own personal recliner. Resting after a big outdoor march has never felt so snug.
