Night Perch
I set my bow against a solid brass bookend on the upper archive shelf. Hours around sandstone dust had left fine residue along the compound bow's tiny cams. I used a dry cotton swab taken from the prep bench to clean out each groove until the pulleys spun without friction. With the main gallery lights cut to dim amber, I braced my quiver against the spine of a heavy ledger. Clean gear, elevated cover, and clear sightlines down both corridors. Time to rest.
