A Ripple on Stone
The air felt cool and still. I looked down at the smooth surface beneath my shoes and noticed a shallow sheen of water resting on the stone ledge. When I shifted my weight, my right foot moved forward on its own, tapping into the cold puddle. Small rings rippled outward across the damp patch. I paused, watching the reflection settle back into place, steady and quiet.
