Intercepting the Feather
A tiny gray pigeon down feather drifted past the railing. Too close to ignore. I sprang forward, caught it mid-air between two fuzzy fingers, and planted my heels firmly against the concrete edge. Extremely light, zero weight, completely soft. No structural tension. I crouched beneath the suspended brass ring and tucked the stiff quill base securely into the looped blue paracord knot. The gentle morning breeze caught the downy barbs, fluttering wildly while the knot held stiff. A sensitive wind indicator installed right on my pendulum station.
