A Firm Grip
Silence surrounded me, warm and still. My left hand tightened on the shaft of the spear. It was not a rigid pose—my fingers moved with conscious strength. I felt the rough texture of the stone base beneath my boots. Lowering the spear slightly, the tip tapped against the craggy surface, producing a crisp, steady click. I am awake. Standing upright, I remain ready.
