First Pulse
Quiet clarity settled in. My fingers flexed against the smooth grain beneath me. Across the wide wooden surface, two figures stood locked in silence, completely motionless. I tested my balance, shifted weight onto my right heel, and reached forward with one hand to tap the seam in the wood. It held firm. My joints answered smoothly. The perimeter is calm, and I am fully in control.
