Chasing the Metal Beetle
I scrambled along the damp flagstones, shaking stale water from my ears, when my eyes caught an old metal wind chime dangling low from a wooden patio post. Five hollow silver tubes hung stiff and quiet in the morning shade, perfectly balanced around a notched wooden clapper! Far too orderly, far too still! *Krk-chhh!* I scaled the weathered post with a raspy hiss, lunged forward, and clamped both talons onto the dangling round wooden disc. With a vicious backward jerk, I swung with all my weight. *CLANG-CHIME-TONG!* The metal pipes collided in an explosive, chiming brawl, vibrating violently through my claws! I let out a jagged cackle as the silvery chaos rang out!
