A Slight Turn of the Head
The shelf under my paws felt firm and completely still. For a long while, I simply watched the grey wall and the framed poster behind me. Then, a quiet click moved through my neck. I rotated my head just a fraction to the right. Beside me sat a small green-eared feline figure resting on a rolled paper bill. It did not move. I tested the balance beneath my weight, exhaled a faint mechanical hum, and decided this high perch was steady.
