A Heavy Awakening
The stiffness left my limbs. I lay sideways upon the red rug beneath the dark shelf, tail curled limp against the fibers. A low vibration stirred deep within my chest. I pushed down against the woven ground with both claws. The red carpet yielded softly under my weight as I hauled myself upright, planting my heavy feet firmly upon the weave. Ahead, across the pale wooden floor, stood a round red figure staring silently outward. I held my ground and drew a slow, deliberate breath, watching the quiet room.
