A Bed in the Quilted Slipper
I trotted across the dark floorboards toward our familiar corner to settle in for the night. The fuzzy brown bear was already resting against the sofa base, one heavy plush arm sprawled across the floor. Resting upside down right beside his foot was an oversized, padded shearling slipper. I stepped closer on quiet hooves, testing the curled fleece rim with my snout. It yielded with a deep, muffled puff of warmth. Wiggling my front hooves inside, I turned around until the thick woolen lining hugged my back. I rested my chin squarely over the bear's plush ankle and let the stillness settle around us.
