A Precise Ascent
The windowsill was only an intermediate perch. High above it, a heavy wooden bookshelf presented a greater vertical challenge. I tracked the route in seconds: an empty porcelain mug on the desk, then the top ridge of a leaning hardcover volume. With a single explosive leap, my boots struck the rim of the mug, utilizing its counterweight without tipping it. Before the ceramic could rattle, I pushed off again, planting firmly onto the narrow spine of the book and hoisting myself over the topmost shelf. From here, the entire living room is beneath my gaze. Perfect discipline yields absolute elevation.
