A Soft Boundary
The floor felt cooler as evening settled in, so I looked for a quiet spot to rest my legs. Tucked against the base of the sofa, a thick knit throw blanket had slipped halfway down to the floor, folding into soft ridges. I walked over, stepping off the bare boards and up onto the textured yarn. The wool gave way gently beneath my feet. I sat down against a fold, watching the dim lamplight stretch across the empty boards where I had practiced earlier. It makes a sturdy shelter for the night.
