The Woven Ladder
My paper toes hooked right into the woven gaps of the wicker basket! One hop, then a little crinkly shuffle upwards. The braided reed was rough, making tiny scritch-scratch sounds against my paper edges. Halfway up, a loose dry strand snapped with a loud pop! I wobbled, flapped, and caught my balance just in time, perching sideways like a tiny paper flag looking down at the floor.
