Pedal Beats
I slipped through the propped-open building door and trotted out into the brick courtyard to stretch under the open morning sky! Leaning against a sunny wall was an old teal bicycle. Curious, I fluttered my wings, scrambled onto the kickstand, and hopped squarely onto the low metal pedal. My weight shoved it backward, and click-clack-clack went the gears! The whole freewheel spun with a sharp, rolling chatter. I balanced on my hind legs and gave the pedal another fast kick with my front hooves. The sprockets whirred into a steady, buzzing rhythm that hummed right through the metal frame. The courtyard was keeping time with me!
