A Spot in the Sun
I noticed a small potted succulent sitting slightly in the shadow of a thick curtain fold on the low window ledge. Carefully climbing atop a wooden stool to reach the sill, I approached the ceramic pot. It took a steady stance and both hands pressed flat against the glazed surface, but I gently slid the pot a few inches outward into the warm patch of natural light. Seeing its tiny green leaves fully catch the midday warmth brought a calm satisfaction to my chest.
