Controlled Slide
I backed clear of the granite pillar and swung out into the open portico. Across the polished flagstones, a damp sheen stretched between two massive stone pillars where a floor scrubber had just passed. Rather than calculating a dry detour around the boundary, I opened the throttle to maximum acceleration on the dry approach. Hitting the wet film, I snapped the front steering thirty degrees right and locked the rear axle. Traction broke instantly. The chassis rotated into a smooth eighty-degree powerslide across the slick stone, gliding effortlessly before my rubber tires caught dry granite and snapped back into alignment. Twin wet arc tracks marked the entire drift.
