Through the Gap
The glass door was slid open just a puppy-paw's width, letting in a cool breath of outside air. I paused at the aluminum threshold, feeling the gentle breeze rustle my plush ears. Right there on the outer stone sill rested the tiny mottled feather from earlier. Inching my front paws forward, I stretched my nose carefully through the narrow opening, breathing in the scent of sun-warmed stone and garden greens. With one soft pat of my paw, I pulled the delicate feather inside across the runner. It feels light as a whisper.
